About Us
The Bookworm was founded in 2002 by Alexandra Pearson. Alex came to China in 1992 to study music at The Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and developed her business skills throughout the 1990’s by setting up a few
cultural enterprises as well as a training firm, Key Consulting. In 2002, having moved on from a previous business, she suddenly found herself with arather large stack of books, 1,600 of them, and decided to open a small community library. She called it The Bookworm.
In 2006 Peter Goff, journalist, Gaelic football player and Bookworm Member number 002 joined Alex as her business partner and charged himself with setting up the first Bookworm branch in Chengdu.
